Questions Often Asked...
Q. When are the church services?
On Sunday mornings:
- 9:00 am - Adult Bible Fellowship
- 10:00 am - Worship Service
- Following the Service (~11:15 am) - Fellowship time with coffee and cookies!
Q. Where is the church?
We are approximately 3 miles North of Silverdale and 3 miles South of Poulsbo on Silverdale Way. If you would like, see a map and get directions.
Q. What do you offer for my family?
We are interested in helping your family grow in all areas of life. We offer an exciting Children’s Church program for kids up thru 6th grade during the Sunday morning service. We offer an Adult Bible Fellowship class prior to the worship service. We also offer a youth program and home Bible studies for encouragement and growth.
Q. Will there be an emphasis on giving?
At Olympic, we believe that God is the provider of all of our needs. He does this through His people. He moves them to give as He enables and not because of guilt or pressure. We do take an offering during the worship services, but there is no obligation to give. Giving is to be an acknowledgment of our gratitude to God for His generosity to us. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Q. How should I act or dress?
We are a casual church. People come dressed in a variety of ways—some in suits and others in more casual attire. Our greatest concern is that “whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord.” (Colossians 3:17)
Q. What if I have no church background?
You are very welcome … and we will do our best to help you explore the Christian faith without the discomfort or confusion of incomprehensible language or rituals. If you have specific questions, please talk to our pastor for help. He can offer practical help through friendly discussions, printed materials or books, or classes designed to meet your needs.
Q. What if I came from another denomination?
We have people from many different backgrounds worshipping at OEFC. The essential concerns at Olympic are: God is glorified, the Lord Jesus Christ is worshipped, the Holy Spirit is allowed to move within the body as He sees fit, and the Bible is taught as preparation for His service in our community.
Q. Will I be expected to do something?
The Lord Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. What higher calling can there be than to serve in His name? There are many areas of ministry, but no one is pressured to serve.
Q. What is your nursery like?
Babies and toddlers are important to us – therefore we have taken special steps to offer quality care. Nursery attendants are usually parents and older teens who have been carefully selected. We consider this a ministry, not merely “baby sitting.”
