Our dream is that our church be a place where everything is done for the glory of God. We want our Triune God to be the object of our WORSHIP – the source of our WARMTH – the focus of our WITNESS– and the subject of our teaching His WORD.
In honoring God in these ways, we want to be a church that loves people as He does. Bringing people into a genuine relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ [witness] – loving them as Christ loves us [warmth] – leading them into God’s presence [worship] – helping them grow spiritually through biblical teaching [Word].
We want to grow a church where you truly feel “at home.” We will strive to be a place of nurture and growth for both families and singles.
In order to be this kind of church, we need to have more than good programs – we need to be a healthy church. A healthy church is the best environment to grow healthy people and families. To that end, we will work and pray to maintain strength in and a balance between eight recognized characteristics of a healthy church:
1. Empowering Lay Leadership. Pastors cannot and should not do all the ministry – pastors are to train others to do ministry [Eph. 4:11,12].
3. Inspiring Worship. Worship becomes inspiring – God honoring and life-changing – when the goal is to bring God and His people together [Ps. 27:4, 86:9; Isa. 12:5,6]. 4. Passionate Spirituality. We all need encouragement to move beyond superficiality – or just going through the motions. We must seek the Lord with all our heart and mind – we must learn to delight in Him [Ps. 37:4; 70:4]
5. Loving Relationships. We all need and desire wholesome loving relationships. As we cultivate such relationships in Christ, not only are we satisfied, but our witness is empowered as the world will see the reality of Christ in us [Jn. 13:34,35].
6. Small Group Ministries. Home Bible Fellowships provide great environments for personal growth – we will seek to multiply such small groups [Acts 2:42-47]
7. Need-Oriented Evangelism. We must overcome our fear and our silence – and become compassionate ambassadors for Christ [2 Cor. 5:20].
8. Functional Structures. We can have a church of vibrant spirituality and fruitful ministries – but it will all fall apart without proper organizational structure – and a willingness to change and adapt that structure with changing needs [Ex. 18:13-26].
